Periodontal disease

The toxins released by the Dental plaque cause inflammation of the periodontal tissues (Pericoronitis). The symptoms of gum disease include bad breath, red or swollen gums, bleeding gums, loose teeth, sensitive teeth.

What is/are the treatment(s) for periodontal disease?
1) Deep cleaning (Scaling and root planning). Scaling means scraping off the tartar from above and below the gum line. Root planing gets rid of rough spots on the tooth root where the germs gather, and helps remove bacteria that contribute to the disease.
2) Flap surgery.
3) Prescribe medications like oral antibiotics
4) Instructions and nutritional counseling by oral hygienist.
